TITLE VI RIGHTS
Your Rights Under Federal Civil Rights Law
YOUR RIGHTS UNDER TITLE VI
Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination based on race, color, or national origin in any program or activity that receives federal financial assistance. As a recipient of federal funding, Native Finance Development Corporation is required to comply with Title VI in everything we do.
Under Title VI, you have the right to:

Access our programs and services free from discrimination based on your race, color, or national origin

Receive services in a language you understand, at no cost to you

File a complaint if you believe you have been discriminated against

Be free from retaliation for filing a complaint or participating in a complaint investigation
Discrimination can include racial or ethnic slurs, denial of services based on how someone looks or speaks, and treatment that is different or less favorable because of someone’s ancestry, national origin, or perceived ethnic background.
YOUR RIGHTS UNDER SECTION 504
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 prohibits discrimination based on disability in programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance. Under Section 504, you have the right to:

Be free from discrimination in any aspect of our services
FILE A COMPLAINT WITH US
If you believe you have experienced discrimination in connection with any Native Finance Development Corporation program or service, you may file a complaint directly with us.
We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and complete our review within 30 calendar days. You will receive a written response with our findings and any corrective steps taken. Filing a complaint with us will not affect your ability to also file with a federal agency.
FILE A COMPLAINT WITH A FEDERAL AGENCY
You also have the right to file a complaint directly with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR), the federal agency that oversees civil rights compliance for programs receiving HHS funding, including funding from the Administration for Native Americans.

Complaints must be filed within 180 days of the date on which the discrimination took place.
These rights are guaranteed under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. § 2000d et seq., and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, 29 U.S.C. § 794.
