Personal Financial Literacy and the Seven Generations Principle
Starting Tuesday January 6, 2026!
Personal Financial Literacy and the Seven Generations
Principle prepares students to make informed financial
decisions through the study of earning income,
budgeting, saving, investing, credit, debt
management, banking services, taxes, and consumer
rights.

While emphasizing practical application and goal setting, the course also integrates
the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois Confederacy) teaching of the Principle of Seven
Generations, which calls for decisions made today to benefit people far into the
future. By connecting financial literacy with this cultural framework of stewardship
and responsibility, students learn to view money management not only as a tool for
personal success in college, career, and adulthood, but also as a way to positively
impact families, communities, and generations to come.
